MLA North West aims to demonstrate the contribution of museums, libraries and archives to the economic vitality of the region, and to ensure that museums, libraries and archives are integrated into local and regional plans for economic and skills development, regeneration, and tourism.

The North West region covers an area of over 14,000 square kilometres, with a population of 6.8 million people, making it the third largest region in the United Kingdom.
