North West Regional Archive Council

The North West Regional Archive Council (NWRAC) represents the interests of the archive community, including practitioners and users of archives, in Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire. It aims to promote the effective preservation of archives within the North West and to foster increased access to archives in the public interest, particularly for the purposes of research and education.

NWRAC is the domain specific body for archives and works in partnership with MLA North West. In 2002 the regional archive council published the first regional archive strategy, Forward Together.
