Programme of work

MLA North West has four key programme areas:

Children and young people

We recognise that museums, libraries and archives offer stimulating educational experiences for children and develop learning and social skills in young people.

People and communities

We want more people to use museums, libraries and archives, and we want to ensure that local communities are engaged in the development and delivery of collections and services in order to build community identity and cohesion.

The economy

We aim to demonstrate the contribution of museums, libraries and archives to the economic vitality of the region, and to ensure that museums, libraries and archives are integrated into local and regional plans for economic and skills development, regeneration, and tourism.

Improvement and innovation

We promote modernisation and best practice in museums, libraries and archives in order to build capacity and ensure services are user-focused, relevant to local communities, and sustainable.
