As a librarian in a joint use library, how do you:
Communicate effectively with managers from two or more organisations (eg headteachers, public library managers/councillors, college principals, NHS mangers)?
Communicate effectively with staff from different backgrounds and different sectors?
Support different types of users (eg general public, students, clinicians)?
Reconcile the conflicting priorities, missions and aims of the organisations involved in a joint use library?
Promote the necessary changes to traditional practices?
This one day course will introduce you to ways to:
ways to engage with people
build rapport
find out how someone is motivated to learn
tell whether someone wants you to “sell” them a benefit or solve a problem for them
discover how to enhance library/user relationships
