Many home-owners decide at one point or another that some part of the home needs a bit of a face lift. Realistically you won't be able to give the whole house a revamp at the same time so it can be a good idea to do it bit by bit or room by room.
Sometimes when you buy a home or you have been living there for a long time the room that takes the most wear and tear is the bathroom. This isn't necessarily because you live with hooligans, but because the bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house. Just think about it. If you have a shower or a bath the steam will cause condensation on the walls.
Even if you have windows or an extractor fan there will still be some condensation that remains. Over time this can lead to mildew on the walls or the paint bubbling on the walls. Reasonable priced bathroom cabinets will sometimes have anti-mildew treatments on them, but not always.
To revamp your bathroom you have a couple of very simple options. Some people like tiles for example. Retiling a bathroom can be messy but worthwhile.
The other option is to repaint the walls with mildew resistant paint. Whatever you choose, try to choose things that will deal with the moisture in the bathroom.
